Travelhorse x Expedia Group x Linens N Love Donation Drive

Over the weekend of 28 and 29 August 2021, Travelhorse collaborated with Expedia Group and Linens N Love for one of their donation drives!

As part of the Month of Caring at Expedia Group, a collaboration was initiated with Linens N Love to collect more than 6000 pieces of condemned linen from 23 hotels across Singapore to be redistributed to 22 social service organizations. The hotels rallied in this movement included Holiday Inn and Holiday in Express, Intercontinental Robertson Quay, Crowne Plaza Changi, Hotel Indigo, JW Marriott, W Singapore, Four Points & Courtyard, Swissotel, Novotel Singapore, Mercure on Stevens, Westin Singapore, Sheraton Towers and St Regis.

As a logistic company, Travelhorse was tasked with the transportation and storage of the boxes of linens that were collected. Additionally, we also provided manpower to facilitate and manage the flow of the logistics, and event movement. Of course, all of these were done safely in accordance with the 1m safe distancing rule.

Beginning at 10am on Saturday, our operations team and drivers headed down to the respective hotels to load up the boxes of linen. The vans would then haul them back to our storage warehouse where the main action is taking place. 800 square feet was utilized as a sorting facility for the volunteers to repack the linens. At the end of the second day, the remaining linens were boxed up and transported to a main recycling hub.

The team at Travelhorse was extremely blessed to be able to serve a good cause and put the collected linens to meaningful use. We would like to thank both Expedia Group and Linens N Love for the opportunity. Below are some snapshots of the event.

Volunteering is one of Expedia Group’s passions. A signature event that aims to give back to the community is the Global Day of Caring in the Month of Caring. Hosted in more than 50 countries, the event provides all members of Expedia Group the opportunity to give their time and talents in making meaningful contributions to the communities they live in.

Some of the programs that Expedia Group had in Singapore included Travel Carnival for Kids as well as the Singapore Healthcare Heroes Program. The former is an initiative with Daughters of Tomorrow and MINDS to bring a travel-themed carnival to underprivileged children. The latter is an initiative to show appreciation to our local healthcare professionals for their invaluable role in fighting against COVID-19 by providing rooms at substantially-discounted rates for them to self-isolate, rest, and recuperate.

Linens N Love is a non-profit organization that collects pillows, bed sheets, towels, blankets, and more from hotels that would otherwise throw them out. They then donate these high-quality linens to different organisations in hopes to improve the lives of homeless families, dogs and cats in shelters, abused women, struggling families, and more.
